Disney’s Holiday Parades!

I would be remiss if I didn’t spend at least one post taking a look at Disney’s spectacular parades that wander through their holiday streets.  Don’t worry, I have days’ worth of Walt Disney’s horticulture to come.  But first I’m taking this week to do the Holidays Disney-style.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade is Christmas in overdrive.  It’s got everyone: the characters, the toys and of course Santa.  It’s especially a joy to behold once you hear all the young kids go nuts.  I’m also a big fan of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  Getting a ticket to the party lets you stay until the wee hours of the morning.  What’s so great about that?  Well, no lines for the rides!  In fact you can just sit in one ride and loop around as many times as you want.  The other fun aspect of it is that it’s mainly for the adults.  Most of the families have long gone and the adult kids head out to play.  As an adult kid, I highly recommend it. : )

The Once Upon a Christmas Parade traverses main street in the Magic Kingdom.  Below the crowds patiently wait for a glimpse of Mickey and Minnie.

Toy soldiers and others head through the parade route in style.  This is not just another holiday parade here, it’s THE holiday parade.

At the Animal Kingdom, “Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade” gets a holiday makeover Nov. 27 through Jan. 4, 2010, when it is magically transformed into “Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade.”

WDW says it best when they tout that, Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade, in the Animal Kingdowm, “blends the spirit of Disney’s Animal Kingdom with the spirit of the holidays.”

Although the parade itself last about 12 minutes, it’s jam packed with 63 cast members and support that team up for an amazing time!  There are five safari vehicles with various Disney Character’s on them.  I will never forget watching a toddler yelling her little heart out, “Plutoooooooooooooo”  ”Plutooooooooooooo!!!!!” The enthusiasm is catchy.

Disney describes it as, “four drum sculptures, three rickshaw taxis, eight animal puppets, 14 Disney characters, 10 Party Animal stiltwalkers and 12 Party Patrols.”

Some of the fun characters you can see are Pluto, Baloo, King Louie, Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, Timon, Terk and Chip ‘n’ Dale.

These amazing animal puppets are designs from Michael Curry Designs based in Portland, Ore.  He’s famous for having created the puppets for Disney’s “The Lion King” on Broadway.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Donald Duck shows up towing a boat and a man-made (or duck-made) snowstorm!

There are parades in every park throughout the day.  My favorite of all of them is SpectroMagic!  It takes place in the Magic Kingdom once the sun goes down and it’s as great for adults as it is for the kids.  That’s where The Bee is heading tomorrow on our next holiday stop at Walt Disney World.

‘Til Tomorrow…

Britt : )
