The Philadelphia Flower Show! Part I: Let the judging begin!

I’ve excitedly awaited heading up to this years Philadelphia Flower Show for what seems like eternity.  It’s this Bee’s very first time visiting the grand halls of Flowers and it did not disappoint.  In fact there was so much to see and do it took me most of the day just to see it all!

Steve and I left bright and early from Union Station in DC to take the trip to Philly.  The ride was great, the tea was great and frankly that cheese danish was pretty good.  The cab was about $6. from the Philly train station to the convention center.  Easy and quick.  Before we knew it we had arrived!

On first walking through the doors we came upon this years plant judging!  It was in full force!

The judges carefully wrote up their comments and prepared for their decisions.

The conversation seemed intense as the judging continued.

Every type of plant and flower were being carefully considered as the day went on.

Flowers were not the only items in the competitions.  There were also miniature gardens, topiary dogs and even tropical enclosed gardens!

I personally loved the idea of being able to enclose a tropical garden in your own home.

Overall the plants and flowers are fantastic this year!   Both the judges and and Flower Show attendees revelled in the process!

As you can imagine sharing this fantastic flower show is going to take a few days!  Fortunately some of you can still see it for yourselves!  It’s still going strong through the end of this weekend!  To find out more information visit : http://www.theflowershow.com/

P.S. A very special thank you to Brend Haas of BGgarden who re-tweeted my twitter updates from the Phily Show all day.  That was incredibly nice!!!  She has one of the best garden blogs out there, if not the best.  If you want to find a site that has all things gardening, garden to kitchen and garden news, this is the place to be!

‘Til tomorrow…

Britt : )

What a lovely and warm preview of Spring! Especially nice when it's cold and snowy here in DC.

Your Photos Explode with excitement - as always!
It doesn't seem like you were effected by the indoor lighting at all. I have been struggling at the shows with which lens to use / what flash to best snap a shot that will truly make my viewers feel like they are in the show with me. YOU CAPTURE it best!
*Thanks for the shout out as well... I am truly honored. Keep on Twittering the Garden World! because you inspire!

Great photos. To any reader who has not visited, you have to see this show in person! The hundreds of exhibitors make it great. I posted my 2010 entry in the Jewelry Class. http://www.facebook.com/MimiFavreStudio
