The Washington Home and Garden Show 2010!
For me, the whole point of heading to a Home and Flower Show is to bring some garden life into one’s personal space. Nothing said that more than the Kalorama Landscapes display which offered a landscape incorporating a Sunday afternoon with tea and a stack of garden books. How perfect! They won “Best Overall Impression” from the Show in addition to two other awards! On top of things, their tulips were picture perfect.
Although at Vista Pro, (below) the tulips were not even the main attraction. More on that to come ahead…
As assumed, the Daffodils were also out in force this year. It is Spring after all at the Washington Home and Garden Show!
And there were other Spring blooms including fragrant Hyacinths and Orchids!
In fact there were so many flowers I could have made this a purely floral post!
Some of the more creative displays came from people like The Fine Garden who specialize in Horticulture and Design.
This year they concentrated their display on container gardening.
M&M Enterprises had a nice back yard display complete with an outdoor fountain.
As You Like It Landscaping had an entire backyard! It was grass covered and ready to go play in!
There was also a wonderful display and one of the most impressive of the show at Vista Pro. Well this Bee thinks so anyway. On one side of the display was a whirlpool bath and a small pool with it’s own waterfall!
Another great surprise was this private back yard beach! I could get used to this! Really well done! I wish the photo did it justice. The sand is great!
I also headed straight over to the Washington Gardener Magazine table where Kathy Jentz was selling her great wares! I bought a subscription for the next year. I can’t wait to see the Spring issue! Thanks to her I was able to come to the show with the two free tickets which I won! Erika and I were very pleased!
Speaking of Erika, my sister and the official Assistant Photo Garden Bee, she had a blast thumbing through dozens of bird-related art from Mary Booth Cabot Watercolors.
We also headed around the ‘Home’ side of the show, which was full of everything you could think of from bath fitters and furniture to greenhouses and pruning sheers. You name it, it was probably here.
Before we knew it, it was time to head home. It’s really interesting to see how each city does it’s Home and Flower Show. They are all different and each has it’s own flavor.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the week ahead is bright. Spring is right around the corner!
