Midwest Spring Treasures by Brenda Haas

The Midwest holds many garden center treasures that have yet to be discovered by the rest of the country. This is why I enjoy sharing little pieces of my world with images on the web. It is my pleasure to uncover yet another treasure that will fill any garden enthusiast with dreams of what the garden season 2010 has to hold. Walking into some of my favorite local garden centers this spring has left me prouder then ever to be a Midwest Garden Girly!

Spring is in full bloom and ready to be taken home to add to your garden in Ohio Nurseries like Hoens’ Greenhouse in Holland, Ohio.

When you look at the collage above you must keep in mind that my neck of the woods is usually averaging temperature highs only in the 50*F’s and heavy frost can still be expected. You can imagine the delight to walk into a garden center filled with this these garden showcase treats. It truly is eye candy to see the mini roses in full bloom and pastel containers lined up collecting the sun rays. And who can resist the new Proven Winner Snow Princess. These are new this year in my area and are sure to please with heat tolerance and extended season performance. You will for sure see these in my garden images this summer.

The antique box of Spring Grass pictured above was a sure photo on my way out the door during my visit to Hoens’ Greenhouse. I took a few photos and brought home some seeds to plant in my own Spring Grass display.

The pansies in a precious tin is always a sure win during this time of year. Can you see the Midwest touches added to the container in the photo above. This one will be snatched up quick so I have learned if I want it in my garden better grab it when I see it.

I hope you enjoyed my share from a few of my favorite Midwest Garden Centers. You can see more from my Midwest Garden collections at BGgarden.com

About Bren © BG Garden

With a background in the Fine Arts and a love for gardening, Midwest native Brenda Haas created the BGgarden web site with aspirations of sharing the creative aspects of growing green. Over the past 2 years she has been sharing life in the garden through her photography on the web.

Dabbling in the arts at a young age by attending studies at the Toledo Museum of Art and Detroit Institute of Art was an important part for Brenda in discovering how to express herself with her talent to create. She was one of five to be accepted at the Chicago School of the Arts fresh out of her small private High School in Ohio. In the late 90’s Brenda had left the theater where she created stage and custome design, finding herself planted in the heartland with the love of her life.

With much pleasure, she took on the role of a mother raising her children where she grew up in the Midwest. This didn’t stop her from inspiring as she started art programs for the youth in local civic groups. While the children grew, so did Brenda’s love for gardening as she discovered she could make a garden retreat in her own surroundings. Maxing out a 80′ x 66′ picket fenced yard in a typical ‘Norman Rockwell’ town, nothing would keep her from expanding. To no surprise Brenda later found herself out in a country garden with close to 20 acres to nurture. This is where she discovered the BGgarden BLOG.

In 2009, Brenda began selling images to garden publications and became a contributor to the Garden World Report.

She looks forward to 2010 and many new adventures in creative gardening and helping others to discover the benefits of growing green.

Thanks so very much Bren!!!  Her blog is amazing and so are her bunnies, that’s right she has a slew of baby bunnies that make a daily visit to her site even more fun!  Please stop by BG Garden and bookmark it now.  It’s one of my all time favorite blogs!

I am still recovering and will put up some of the photos I have left from just before my hospital stay.  I will also have more guest bloggers and some coming back!  Thank you for all the well wishes and condolences.  It’s been a tough week  and you all have really been like a family for me at this time.  A great Bee family.  Thanks so much for everything!

Til Tomorrow,

Britt : )
