2010 AHS Spring Garden Market at River Farm!
This weekend from April 16 to 17, (Friday, Saturday) is the American Horticultural Society’s Spring Garden Market! It’s local, well local for me. It is in Alexandria, Virginia which is short drive from here.
As they explain on their wonderful press release:
“The Spring Garden Market is open to the general public on Friday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to plant shopping, visitors can view entries in a standard flower show presented by District II of the National Capital Area Garden Clubs. Titled Carpe Diem: Seize the Day, the flower show will be held on Friday and Saturday in River Farm’s Estate House. Visitors are also welcome to tour River Farm’s 25-acre grounds, which will be in full spring bloom. Parking is free for AHS members (with valid membership card) and $3 for non-members.”
They tout, “more than 20 local vendors will be on site selling a wide range of ornamental and edible plants, gardening supplies, art, and other garden-themed products and crafts.” Oh that does sound like a great time!
I absolutely love Peony Envy! They have such lovely flowers!
They also boast that, “David Ellis, editor of The American Gardener magazine, will also be on hand that evening to sign copies of our latest gardening book, the New Encyclopedia of Gardening Techniques.”
For those of you who can get here and buy some plants, all of the “proceeds from the Spring Garden Market,” they explain, “support the AHS’s educational programs and the stewardship of River Farm”
So if you live in the area and want to meet some great regional vendors, find some great flowers and enjoy the wonderful River Farm stop by! It really does look like fun.
‘Til Tomorrow…
