Wisterias in full bloom at Longwood Gardens!
After a couple of years of arriving a bit too early or a little too late…
…I managed to arrange my visit just right and see the famed wisterias in full beautiful bloom!
The Wisteria Garden is just off the main Flower Garden Walk residing next to the Sundial and Iris Gardens which should be bursting forth next week. Both these adjacent gardens were designed by Pierre du Pont. They are surrounded by lovely hedges which keep the garden experience distraction free.
The wisterias here come in a multitide of colors. The purple are my personal favorite.
The blooms hover above..
and below…
All are stunningly fragrant!!! The aroma under the pergola is akin to being enveloped in lavender honeysuckle.
The walk itself is quite romantic. Even long after the wisterias have come and gone.
If you can get there this weekend or easily through week and possibly the next, they are still blooming!
You can see them up close and personal or be overwhelmed by the overall.
I can’t recommend Longwood enough and here is yet another reason why : )
